Since we're gathering a number of decision makers in one place, it becomes very attractive to vendors looking to hawk their tawdry wares. Hence the invitation only. Sorry to those who think it's eliteist but...

Membership Requirement #1: CEO Entrepreneurs with real companies.

No students. No vendors. No sales guys.

You can get around requirement #1 very easily. A current member can bring whoever they want. So if you're a student, vendor, or sales guy, just get a member to invite you. Just make sure it's worth their time and the endless derision that will be heaped upon them for peeing in the pool.

Also, since the purpose of Fight Club is to build a network of entrepreneurs who actually know each other personally, rather than just what our businesses do. Here's an exercise to help us determine the cut of your jib. The performance of which will tell our members much about you, if you're interested in contributing, if you can tell a story, if you want to offer some time and insight to others, if you have a sense of humor. That kind of stuff.

Semi-optional Requirement #2: Write your last fight.

Write and publish (to this site) the story of the last fight you were involved in. (Physical blows exchanged.)

If you've never been in a fight you have three alternatives:

Write a fictional story of a fight that you might have been in at some time in your lift but that you loose embarrassingly.

Write a thesis on why physical violence can't solve society's problems and how this site is destroying our children.

Put your tail between your legs and slink away knowing you're not Fight Club material.

Write your story and submit it to this site using the submit form. Also include you're personal contact and company information. We'll review it and if it's deemed worthy, we'll post it and you're in. We'll set you up an official Fight Club Members Account and you'll be able to post to this blog and be invited to Fight Club Events. You'll also be able to add the vaunted F.C. after your name on 'linked-in' and you're tombstone. (It's kind of like being a knight.)
If it's too short, not funny, or doesn't offer thoughtful insight into mans inhumanity towards his fellow man. Fight Club is totally informal. No cost. No RSVP. Nada. It is open to whoever is invited by someone already in Fight Club. Usually a monthly dinner of 2-3 hours. Members are usually entrepreneur CEO's with a leaning towards tech companies.

Utah Technology Council

UTC is a member of the Council of Regional Information Technology Associations (CRITA), a national trade organization that represents 45 regional Technology trade organizations which in turn represent more than 15,000 technology-related companies in North America. For more information about CRITA, please visit www.crita.org. Paid Service.

Corporate Alliance

Corporate Alliance is designed around local business networking. There is not a technology focus. Paid service between $99 and $149 monthly with additional costs.

Geek Dinner
Hardcore geeks. As a friend of my said on leaving a Geek Dinner, "There are Kazinski's in that room right now building bombs." OK, it's not that bad but you'd better know your Wiki from your C++.

CTO Breakfast

Phil Windley organizes this. I've never been. Someone leave a description as a comment.

The ePIFany Network

Conferencing network. Keynote speakers, etc. Paid.

Business Ignitor Series

Connect Magazines networking events. Usually panel and/or talk. Not really designed around networking.

Utah First Fridays

Informal format. Networking and informational presentations. No membership or dues, all business professionals welcome.

MountainWest Capital Network

Luncheons, panel discussions and conferences. Publishes the Deal Flow report and the V100.

Utah Valley Entrepreneurial Forum

Built around Utah Valley tech companies. Meets monthly.

Wayne Brown Institute

Seminars & conferences. Monthly 'How to raise money in Utah' seminar. Has good speakers so other entrepreneurs are often in attendance.
